The beauty of a thosuand shooting stars

I had my first bout with self significance on Tuesday night.

I never really thought I was too significant to the doings of the world. Sure, I speak my mind and do my part, I make my plans (those tiny little prayers to father time) and I have my hopes and dreams but I never really thought any of this had any real significance. I never really thought any of it mattered until Tuesday night.

Tuesday night was monumental. Tuesday night we made history. Tuesday night was an answer to all my silent hopes.

The moment Obama was announced as president a euphoria enveloped my soul.
We all stood in silence, in disbelief, in shock for a lack of better description. Any relevance of words that I make pertaining to that moment will do it no justice. The air stood still around us until we broke out in a rejoice incomparable to the celebration of a thousand new millenniums simultaneously.

We hugged, we cried we yelled we jumped but most of all we felt a feeling new to each and every one of us, a feeling of pride, pride in self, pride in country and most of all pride in race and pride in change.

We cried tears like tears we have never known in the past. Tears of rejoice, tears of desperation, all the tears we would have had to spare to cry on the grounds of our diminishing country. Those tears were surrendered to happiness and the hope for change. Those tears didn't burn like those of somber, those tears of rejoice rolled off smooth and slipped into our smiles. I felt something stronger than magic inside, something that I'm sure we all felt, but couldn't find the words to explain.

We spilled to the streets to share in the joy that others felt as well with screams of rejoice and a high pitched star spangled banner that would make any ear bleed on a normal day. But to us it was sweet, sang by voices of relief and content. our walk of rejoice continued around the whole town swelling with content. Littered with the flash of cameras and the swinging of t-shirts led by the American flag with the addition of my pink pom-poms, we walked we ran we screamed we sang...all in the name of happiness.

The beauty of this is we knew our significance.
We all knew we were part of history, and we all came together, we came together and it was beautiful. With out a doubt I have never felt more significant then I did amidst that crowd, nor have I ever seen such a wide array of happiness. Different people from different places who would never cross paths on any other occasion all celebrating for our own individual triumphs, our own individual successes, all under the hopes of Change that one man proposed.

If you shared this night with me, you are nothing short of amazing. We witnessed History together, and this is dedicated to the magic of that night

Floating Notes

I lost it in the early mornings.
I'm talking 5am just closing my eyes while the sun is hitting the birds on their wings evoking chirps.
I lost it in the early mornings.
I dont think you understand 4:30am still sipping on a caprisun waiting for the color to change.
I lost it in the early mornings.
Cutting through the 3am dew to make it on time.
What time.
whose time?
Not mine.

I lost it wrapped up tight.
I'm talking tenacious, not even air could pass though.
I dont think you understand.
Legs in arms fingers in hair hands on spines lips on lips whispers in ears.
I lost it wrapped up tight.
air tight.
sealed to perfection.
Bundled in close to what i thought was mine.
Whose mine?
Not mine.

I lost it to a melody.
I'm talking songs sweeter than a garbage bag full of halloween candy.
Yea it made me feel like i ate the whole bag too.
Sick to my stomach.
I don't think you understand.
well, i thought they could understand.
I thought She could understand...
I thought He could understand.
understand that I lost it to a melody.
So sweet I thought it sang my tunes and knew my blues.
I lost it to a melody.

I lost it to a melody.

I thought it sang my tunes.
